Controversial article from New Scientist about the carbon footprint of pets like dogs and cats vs. SUVs and medium sized cars.
It's a great info-graphic, but the calcs seem a little suspect - e.g. v. low mileage assumed for the cars and same footprint for fresh food assumed for pet food which is often made from human food byproducts, etc.
Makes a damn good headline though and certainly makes you think.
