I often get asked why I use things like a reusable water bottle, glass straws*, stainless steel containers, etc... My answer is always to reduce waste and I try not to use plastic. The part about trying to not use plastic really gets people. I hear "why do you not use plastic?" or "but it's recyclable." So why do I try not to use plastic? One reason is my health, that is my selfish reason. I don't like knowingly putting chemicals in to my body. Plastic can contain harmful things like BPA and phthalates.
